Turkey Pot Pie Recipe

THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING TURKEY POT PIE

For this Turkey pot pie we are using our Stuffing as the crust. Normally you have a pie crust that would be on the bottom as well as the top of your pie. Not us, we are only putting the stuffing on the bottom of our pie. We then incorporate our Roasted Turkey, gravy and green bean casserole together to make our filling. We are then going to top our pot pie with a piping of our roasted garlic mashed potato. Our toppings of French onions and drizzle of cranberry compote elevate this pie to another level and The Pink Papaya is excited to share this Day After Thanksgiving Turkey Pot Pie recipe with you. However, if you are missing a recipe or two please scroll all the way down to see the recipes we used for our version of this Turkey Pot Pie, where we have attached the links for your convenience.

Savory Bread Pudding (Stuffing)
This homemade Savory bread pudding or as it is also known by (Stuffing) is a great, simple, and easy to follow recipe to provide you and your family a dish that will have people talking for weeks to come. I must confess to using this recipe often as it is requested by my family. I pair it with Pork chops and Spicy apple compote. This recipe has so much going on. First it is a custard so the eggs, heavy cream and butter add this deep comfort while the rosemary adds this brightness of flavor. Bringing in the bacon is a deep satisfying touch of salty goodness. Lastly, the bread that has absorbed all of the custard and is now creamy on the inside yet crunchy on the top due to the baking process is truly the finishing touch of this Savory bread pudding experience.

Green Bean Casserole
An employee named Dorcas Reilly invented the green bean casserole back in 1955 while she was working for Campbell soup. Although her recipe called for canned green beans that was a necessity back then due to post war era methods of preserving canned vegetables. Today we will be using fresh green beans. The fresh green beans give it a snap and earthiness we don’t get from the canned version. The Campbell soup of choice for this casserole is Cream of Mushroom soup and That is where the creaminess comes from. Topping off this casserole during the last 5 minutes in the oven is the French fried Onions that give this casserole a deep crisp onion flavor and breaks through that creamy layer beneath it. In other words we are going old school with this classic casserole dish. Enjoy!
