Cuba Libre Recipe
This drink is often confused with a typical rum and coke and although they are similar. The Cuba Libre is made with lime juice. Fun Fact : As the story goes, in the year 1900, a captain in the U.S. Army stationed in Havana during the Spanish-American War poured Coca-Cola and a squeeze of lime into his Bacardí and toasted his Cuban comrades by calling out in the bar, “Por Cuba Libre!” (“To a free Cuba!”). And just like that, a legend was born and the drink forever was known as Cuba Libre. However, Since Cuba was never freed. Some call it Mentirita.
Cuba Libre:
- 2 oz. Rum (We used Black Magic Spiced Rum. A Puerto Rican Rum)
- 4 oz. Coke
- 1/2 squeezed lime juice
Garnish:
- 2 thin slices of lime (Thinly sliced)
- 1 lime wedge
Gather your ingredients
Start by getting a tall glass and adding ice.
Next add in your slices of lime.
Then measure out 6oz of coke.
Pour your coke into your glass
Now move on to the rum and measure out 2 ounces.
Add your rum to your glass.
Now add your garnish and squeeze 1/2 a lime into your glass.
